Spectacular stained glassInterpretation of site available

Welcome to our Victorian village church, which is open daily all year.

The church building was consecrated in 1848 to a design by the architect William Wallen and has been altered over the years to make it more accessible to everyone and to suit the worship patterns of the time. It is built of local stone and has a well cote containing two wells.

Although of a simple design visitors tell us of the sense of peace they get from our church and we feel proud that this is appreciated. We have lovely stained glass windows, most noticeably the east window which depicts scenes from the life of St Paul. The smaller windows include Faith, Hope and Charity – Hope being a copy of Holman Hunts painting ‘Light of the World’. The altar was removed from the east wall in 1996, redesigned in 1997 and remains central to our worship. We have a number of banners, including the village millennium banner, made jointly with our friends from the Methodist church. We have a strong relationship with other churches in the area and the local Catholic community use the church for Mass each Sunday.

Come along and enjoy the peace of our church.
