Wath Festival 2010: 28th April - 3rd May

Wath Festival is South Yorkshire’s biggest festival of music and dance and was established in 1972 by the people of Wath for their community. It takes place each year in the heart of Wath-Upon-Dearne on May Day bank holiday weekend. Nearly 40 years on the event has gained recognition for being the friendliest festival in the region.

The festival weekend has seen musical performances from the likes of Eliza Carthy, The Demon Barbers, Battlefield Band, Dougie MacLean, Karine Polwart, Rachel Harrington and handful of local artists including, Ray Hearne, Katriona Gilmore and Jamie Roberts, Jon Gomm, WW.Combo and Charlie Barker.

Community events take place throughout the festival week from local school's concerts, the festival procession, singarounds, music workshops and concerts. You can find the festival events happening in the Montgomery Hall, the Sandygate Hotel, Wath Rugby Club, Montgomery Square and Wath Parish Church.

Comedian and actor, Ade Edmondson and his band The Bad Shepherds will be headlining the 2010 festival along with an appearance from his daughter, Ella Edmondson.

The Heidi Talbot Trio, Stacey Earle & Mark Stuart, Chris Sherburn & Denny Bartley, the Lonnie Donegan Band featuring Peter Donegan, John Tams & Barry Coope and Steve Tilston & Dave Bowie will also be appearing with more artists to be confirmed soon.
